Steps in accepting an assignment:


1. Once a position suited to your skills and interests is found, one of the staff at MAP will discuss it with you.

2. If the position looks like a good match for you, you next meet a contact person from the organization involved to ensure the position and the people involved are a good fit for you.

3. When you've confirmed the opportunity is right for you, you sign a "Statement of Understanding" about the work and outcomes.

4. Lastly, with the MAP staff always available to help you, you spend a few hours a week as a consultant for two or three months, or a few hours every month or two as a board member. (Terms vary for board members, but two years is not unusual.)
