Decide if you would like training:

For an overview of training resources, check out MAP's Classes and Workshops page.
Two key classes for volunteers are listed below.

Volunteer Consultant Workshop.

This is a free consulting workshop for managers and professionals interested in exploring being a MAP volunteer consultant on projects for nonprofits in the Twin Cities metro area.

If you are interested in information on consulting that includes an orientation to the nonprofit world and an introduction to the Management Assistance Project, call 647-1216 or e-mail MAP's Director of Volunteer and Corporate Services, Bobbi Haasl-Blilie, to see when the next one is scheduled. (Driving directions to training.)

Board member training.

MAP also has board orientation material and training sessions once a month (at MAP) so you can make an informed choice, particularly if you have not served on a nonprofit board before. Call 647-1216 or e-mail MAP's Manager of Board Services, Dave Barker, to learn more.

Driving directions to trainings (at MAP):

Trainings are held at the MAP offices on 2233 University Avenue, Suite 360, St. Paul. Directions from Minneapolis or suburbs:

1. Get onto 94 eastbound and exit onto highway 280 (there is only one exit for 280);
2. Exit on University Avenue East. Note: this exit comes up quickly, so stay to the right;
3. Drive east 5 blocks to Hampden and University (the building is on the northeast corner, across Hampden on your left if following these directions).
